The temptation is always close at hand when you’re trying to lose weight and become healthier. But if you plan ahead, and maintain a flexible attitude, temptations won’t stop you from reaching your goals.
Check out this short video with eight recommended steps to overcoming food temptations and succeeding with your diet.
- Make sure you keep yourself full, don’t skip breakfast and eat meals regularly especially rich in fiber to keep you feeling full for longer
- Eat nutrient-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds
- To avoid temptation, remove obstacles from the kitchen. Remove junk food from your cupboards and fridge such as chocolate bars, biscuits, crisps and sweet sodas. Instead, stock up on healthy snacks, such as fruit, unsalted nuts, and rice cakes or veggie sticks.
- Have healthy foods handy when out of the house. Take some whole wheat bread, a piece of fruit or vegetables with you in sandwich bags to ensure you don’t feel overly hungry and eat whatever is quickly available (such as processed fast foods).
- Have plenty of healthy foods handy in your house.
- Drink plenty of water (Some people sometimes confuse thirst with hunger. So before you go to eat, first drink, maybe some water is really what your body needs right now instead).
- Use smaller plates (Research shows that people who used smaller plates ate smaller portions and were feeling satisfied after consuming less food).
- Don’t stress or punish yourself if you are tempted, just persevere even if you had a fall.
