Wheat Grass is abundant in so many minerals and vitamins A, B-complex, C, E, and K. It is also extremely rich in protein, all of which help with weight loss! Wheat grass is a potent liver and blood detoxifier. Here is how you can grow it at home easily.

If you choose to juice the wheatgrass, this amount will produce 4 shots

Production time: 12 days

What you will need:

  • 1 cup of organic wheat or barley seeds.
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 small piece of thin 100% cotton cloth
  • 1 plant pot or a plastic container with small holes at the bottom to grow the wheat grass and allow removal of excess water.
  • Enough soil to fill the pot or plastic container with minimum 2 inches of soil
  • 1 piece of 100% cotton cloth large enough to cover the pot or container.
  • Wheat grass juicer or, if you don’t have one, you may use a blender.

Instructions:

  1. Place the seeds in a glass cup or glass container
  2. Cover with 2 cups of water and leave to stand uncovered for 12-15 hours.
  3. Place the seeds in a sieve, drain the water and rinse the seeds.
  4. Scoop the damp seeds out of the sieve and place them on a piece of 100% cotton cloth. Wrap them up in the cloth and place in a dark place on a plate. Leave them to dry for 12-15 hours. By now the wheat and barley seeds have sprouted.
  5. Fill your designated pot or plastic container with soil.
  6. Pour water over the soil to moisten it.
  7. Scatter the sprouted wheat or barley seeds over the wet soil.
  8. Loosely spread dry soil over the seeds.
  9. Cover the pot with a dry cotton cloth and sprinkle some water on top of the cloth to moisten it.
  10. During the next few days water the cloth covering the pot once a day. On the third day, you will see the wheatgrass growing. Barley may take a bit longer to grow.
  11. Once you see the grass growing, remove the cloth cover, and allow the grass to absorb sunlight. Now you may directly water the soil daily. (If you live in a hot climate, you may need to water twice daily).
  12. When the wheat reaches 6 inches (after about 7-8 days) cut the grass just above the soil surface.
  13. Rinse the cut grass
  14. Place the grass in your wheat grass juicer and juice it.
  15. If you do not own a wheat grass juicer you can use a blender as follows: place the grass in the blender with two tablespoons of lemon juice and a dash of water. Blend until it becomes a juice. Sieve the juice before drinking.
  16. Pour into 4 glasses. Drink immediately after juicing.
  17. Enjoy!
